Who ARE Mental Health First Aiders?
Teachers, first responders, and veterans. They’re neighbors, parents, and friends. They’re people in recovery, and those supporting a loved one.
Just like CPR/ First Aide, you could save a life with Mental Health First Aide.
When more people are equipped with the tools they need to start a dialogue, more people can get the help they need.
Mental Health First Aid is an early intervention public education program.
It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally, how to give reassurance, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services.
This course is being offered at no cost to participants by
Sheridan County Behavioral Health Coalition
and Richland County Behavioral Health Local Advisory Council.
Instruction will be provided by Rev. Dr. Timothy W. Tharp, a 30-year educator with numerous qualifications and participation in various mental health organizations in Richland County.
